 INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY PROFESSIONALS

The School of Computing and Information Technology (SCIT) aim to introduce a degree in Computer Networking and Security emanates from and is supported by the government’s stated emphasis on implementing cyber security and computer networking across sectors within the economy. The Government of Jamaica (GOJ) is positioning the country as a digitally-driven and connected society and is prepared to ensure it has the necessary  local skill set to continue and support the Information Technology development thrust.

The programme is dedicated to developing graduates from this proposed course of study who will be equipped with practical skills and working knowledge in the field of computer networking and cyber security to fill the current gaps in the Jamaican marketplace and those that exist globally.

The 4-year Degree in Computer Networking and Security started in 2019. Each student cohort for this course of student is admitted in August of each academic year. The course is four(4) years in duration, organised on a full-time/flexible basis over an academic year consisting of approximately thirty weeks (2 semesters).
