Who this qualification is for: This qualification targets persons who wish to participate in a range of routine and predictable accounting office functions. These individuals will work under close supervision and are given clear directions on completing the specified tasks. The knowledge and skills components are geared towards processing accounts receivables and payables, preparing and processing accounting records, maintaining cash flow, performing financial transactions, payment documentation, payroll transactions, and making statutory deductions.

Qualification Description: In this qualification, the competencies and skills will allow learners to perform various accounting duties under supervision and will cover modules such as Preparing and Processing Accounting Records; Processing Payables and Receivables; Maintaining Cash Flow; Performing Financial Transactions. Learners will also receive exposure to professionalism and ethical behaviour; occupational health and safety; entrepreneurship and professional development; quality customer service; and digital literacy.

Qualification Value: Having completed this NVQ-J Level 2 Qualification, candidates will be awarded a Certificate, which is regionally and internationally accepted. It provides a basis for matriculation and is an alternate route to higher education. This qualification is equivalent to a Certificate on the Integrated Qualifications Framework of Jamaica.
