This qualification targets persons who want to practice as a Pharmacy Technician within the Pharmaceutical Industry. These persons are seeking certification to begin a career in Pharmacy and are new to the practice. Some individuals may have industry experience as an assistant to a Pharmacist before entering this Programme. Individuals will perform their duties under supervision with some level of autonomy. Persons who complete this NVQ-J may be employed as a Pharmacy Technician. The knowledge and skills components of this qualification are geared towards providing a foundation to build on competencies in the areas of dispensing, communication, compounding, inventory management, entrepreneurship and the use of the pharmaceutical software. It also focuses on basic industry protocols, laws, and policies governing pharmacy practices.
