The multidisciplinary Masters degree which commenced in AY 2016/17 is responsive to the global drive for sustainable development linked to Energy and Climate Change solutions.  The curriculum integrates multiple disciplines such as: engineering, natural and social sciences, humanities, and the built environment. The Master of Science in Sustainable Energy and Climate Change is consistent with global trends for carbon economic growth, innovation and green business development. Persons who have completed this Master of Science should become critical thinkers who apply scientific principles to develop and implement policies, regulatory framework and standards for effective management and governance. The learner should be able to articulate linkages between sustainable energy and climate change for a more holistic approach approach to energy as well as find solutions to minimize the Region’s dependency on fossil fuels. They should also be able to use the tools and methods learned in the course of study to set up and develop innovative green businesses. Additionally, they should become transformative leaders for sustainable development.

  • Entry Requirements: A BSc/ BA with at least a 2.7 GPA in related disciplines (engineering, natural sciences, social sciences, the built environment) OR any other appropriate level of study (degree) in a recognized educational institution plus three years of work experience in a related industry field.
    The following will also be considered: Five years of management experience in the built environment, engineering of energy, disaster preparedness and mitigation or the environment and green business innovations.
    Other appropriate level of study in a recognized educational institution.
    NOTE: Applicants without the necessary background to pursue graduate studies will have to satisfy the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) requirements, or by completing at least three undergraduate modules from the faculty as deemed by their academic advisor in order to matriculate into the Master.
    In addition to the above, all selected applicants must pass a final selection interview.
