University of the West Indies - Bachelor of Science in Environmental Chemistry
Environmental Chemistry involves the study of the various spheres of planet Earth. It examines the chemical changes that occur in the environment, the impacts of human activities, and how we may protect the earth against adverse changes. The Environmental Chemistry major applies the concepts and principles of General Chemistry to an understanding of the chemical reactions that take place in the environment. There is a strong emphasis on the impacts of climate change and the use of sustainable development approaches to minimize environmental challenges. Numerous field trips and an 8-week internship programme help to produce graduates with a practical understanding of environmental issues and the ability to help evaluate and manage those issues. Graduates pursue careers in environmental management, natural resource protection, impact assessments, water quality, or sustainable development issues.
