This qualification targets persons who wish to pursue a career in the Tourism Sector. It provides a foundation to build on in the Sector, especially for certain categories of workers. For these workers who need a license to operate in the industry, they are required to possess a Team Jamaica certificate in order to do so. One such category of persons include contract carriage workers. In addition to this requirement, there is also the need to increase the awareness of the Jamaica Tourism product among persons working or planning to work in the Sector as Jamaica moves forward increasing its level of investment in the tourism sector. The knowledge and skills components of this qualification are geared towards developing critical areas such as providing quality customer service; personal care and development; interacting with persons from diverse cultures; ensuring safety and health for self and others. It is also focused on fostering an awareness of Jamaica’s multifaceted tourism product, history, geography and culture and the preservation of the environment.
