University of the West Indies - Bachelor of Science in Applied Geography

 SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING PROFESSIONALS

The Applied Major in Geography (BSc/BA) is designed to produce well-rounded graduates. Students progress in various courses over a three-year period culminating in a range of specialized and research-led applied courses in their final year. The programme places a greater emphasis on research, fieldwork and project activities than the Major in Geography programme. This major lays a foundation for students who wish to pursue research careers. Fieldwork and project reports are integral to most Level III courses. Transferable skills including data collection, data analysis and presentation of findings in the form of a report are important components of coursework and are frequently sought after by potential future employers. The programme provides a competitive advantage for students planning to embark on a research career directly after the completion of their degree. Programme is usually 3 years unless the student begins at the preliminary level.
