The programme in Marine Biology is designed to give students hands-on exposure to the study of the marine environment and its organisms. This major is focused on the development of a problem-solving approach in students toward addressing the issues associated with the sustainable management and conservation of the marine environment, within the context of the impacts of climate change / global warming on the ecology of island states in particular. Many of the courses require frequent field trips, and diving and swimming proficiency.

Career opportunities after graduation include Environmental Consultation, Toxicology, Marine Biotechnology, Aquaculture, Fisheries Ecology, Environmental Impact Assessment, Coral Reef, Seagrass and Wetland Conservation, Restoration and Rehabilitation, Oceanography and Marine Management, Education and Research fields.
