This qualification targets Individuals wishing to advance their career in the Building and Construction Industry. Persons who complete this NVQJ may explore several career options: Lead Mason, Site Supervisor and Foreman.
The knowledge and skills components of this qualification, are geared towards demonstrating knowledge of how to perform advanced structural work, prepare and perform tilt slab construction, perform masonry work, construct reinforced walls, and prepare and perform cavity brick/block construction. Persons who access this programme at this level will be able to construct masonry structural systems, carry out stress bar post tensioning, undertake rigging, install glass block-work, carry out decorative finishes to concrete, construct steps and stairs, carry out tilt slab construction, install curtain walling and operate demolition plant and equipment. Mathematical and communication skills are also key components of this qualification as persons will be required to read complex plans, carry out measurements relating to the job and communicate with internal and external customers.
