This qualification is for persons interested in working in the health field as a Health Records Clerk. Individuals with this NVQ-J compile, process, and maintain health records of Health Care Facility’s patients in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the health care system. They process, maintain, compile, and report patient information according to health requirements and standards Duties and responsibilities also include maintaining health records for both electronic and paper files; and updating, maintaining, and retrieving patient records on a health records system. Individuals who will be working in the health care environment would need to understand medical terminologies and maintain a high level of confidentiality and security in dealing with patients’ health records. Attitudes may include time
management, organizational skills, attention to detail, quality focus, professionalism, productivity, thoroughness, coordination, deadline-oriented, internal communications, and reporting skills.

After achieving this Certificate in CSA21019 NVQ-J Level 2 in Health Records, individuals could progress to CSA30919 Level 3 in Health Records or select from a wide range of other qualifications in the Allied Health Industry.
