More specifically, learners will be taught how to design, install, and configure smart lighting, install and manage commercial and home entertainment systems, and design, install, and configure telecommunication and automated security systems, including wired and wireless systems.

Smart spaces, also known as connected places (residential, commercial, and industrial), relate to physical locations equipped with networked sensors that collect data that can be used to generate insights about its environmental conditions, the services it provides, and how occupants interact with their environment. In general, smart spaces technologies aim to improve efficiency, safety, and security. Persons who complete this NVQJ may explore several career options: Automation Manager, Smart Home Technician, Surveillance and Security Manager, and Surveillance and Security Supervisor.

Qualification Value: Having successfully completed this programme, candidates will be awarded a Level 4 National Vocational Qualification in Smart Spaces Infrastructure Design, which is regionally and internationally accepted. It provides a basis for matriculation and is an alternate route to higher education.
