This Building Construction Drafting Level 1 qualification focuses on providing learner with the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills required to perform basic duties in drafting to support building design. Construction drafting is a graphical representation of what will be built, how it will be laid out, the components, framework, and dimensions. These individuals will garner the foundational competencies and skills for the occupational area, while adhering to the regulation and standards. This qualification provides individuals with the foundational technical and non-technical skills and competencies for building constructing drafting.

As a part of this training, learners will be introduced to the entry-level tasks and processes that occur at the preliminary phase of the Construction Industry such as: creating and interpreting drawings of buildings using traditional and computer aided methods; applying math for construction; applying knowledge of methods of construction and structural drafting, construction materials and the differences between designing commercial and residential structures among other elements that will provide a basis for functioning safely and effectively in the field.

After achieving this NVQ-J Level 1 Certificate in Building Construction Drafting (BCG11024), individuals could progress to NVQ-J Level 2 Building Construction Drafting or a wide range of other qualifications in the Building Construction industry.
