University of Technology, Jamaica - Bachelor of Science in Computing
The School of Computing and Information Technology aims to provide theoretical foundation of information and computation practical techniques for implementation and application in computer systems. The Bachelor of Science in Computing course of study aims to evaluate information technology solutions in order to create value for organizations, utilizing efficient software engineering principles and technologies, and provide graduates with proficiency in the use of computer science tools and technologies.
The programme was designed to create a course that helps to drive the innovative use of emerging technologies, work-ready graduates and create graduates with the aptitude and skills to drive real sustainable value creation. The information technology major is designed to produce graduates who possess the right combination of knowledge and practical and hands-on expertise to take care of both an organization’s information technology infrastructure and the people who use it. The Computer Science major is designed to produce graduates with the required skill to:
- Design and implement software.
- Devise new ways to use computers in the areas of networking, database, and human computer interface.
- Develop intelligent systems.
- To add value to both local and international markets.
The 4-year degree started in 2008 as the Bachelor of Science in Computing and Information Technology and was upgraded in 2015 to the Bachelor of Science in Computing. Each student cohort for the course of study is admitted in August of each year academic year. The course is four(4) years in duration, organised on a full time/ part time basis over an academic year consisting of approximately thirty weeks (2 semesters).

Five(5) CXC CSEC Grades passes including English Language, Mathematics and three(3) other subjects preferable Information Technology subject. (CXC CSEC Grades 1, 2, & 3 since 1998).
Other appropriate levels of entry from a recognized educational institution.
Advance placement in Community Colleges.
