The training in General Agriculture Level 3 Competency Standard prepares the learner with experiences, knowledge, skills, and attitudes for entry-level management work in the agricultural sector, or for further training at the advanced level. The Competency Standard comprising 9 clusters of units covers multiple subjects in crop production and protection; livestock breeding, feeding and management; and soil preparation for nursery, field/row crops, and pasture. The training considers climate change and other environmental issues in the context of the impacts it will have on food production and security. The training is completed with units to enable the trainee to supervise work routines and staff performance; perform scientific investigations and write technical reports while applying communication and customer service skills; compute and maintain business records, and paying attention to occupational safety and health.

This qualification is for persons pursuing the qualification for General Agriculture Level 3 who have successfully completed the qualification for NVQ-J Level 2 General Agriculture. Individuals may enter the NVQ Level 3 in General Agriculture after successfully completing, NVQ Level 2 in General Agriculture, CSEC General Agriculture Level 2, supported by relevant on-farm training.
